This article explains this testing phase and the results obtained, and provides additional explanations and conclusions that should be answered by you.

Investigation of basic water

Since we argue that the PiMag Waterfall® can increase the pH of tap water from 7 or 7.5 to a pH of 8.5 or 9.5, it was important to increase the water produced by our system to the to examine minerals normally used in basic (alkaline) water.

In our laboratory, 5 litres of tap water were filtered daily with our filter system over a period of 90 days, with regular samples taken from the filtered water.

We compared these samples against the tap water sample and calculated the increase (net) as a percentage.

ORP (oxidation reduction potential)

The ORP measures the performance of a water system to either release or absorb electrons by means of a chemical reaction. The ORP is measured in millivolts and indicates whether a solution has oxidizing or disoxidizing properties. The higher the positive value, the more oxidizing the solution. A low positive value or a negative value indicate the disoxidizing properties of the solution and that it contains antioxidants. In our laboratory, 745 litres of water were filtered with our PiMag Waterfall® during the test phase of the device, with a measurement being made every 20 litres. The test data show that the ORP values of the tap water (before filtering) were in a range of 420 mV to 580 mV. After filtering, a reduction of these values was found, which were now in the range of 90 mV to 380 mV. The tests were carried out under laboratory conditions. Results may vary depending on the location. Chlorine, for example, is an oxidizing agent and our PiMag Waterfall® showed a reduction in chlorine content (see table below):

The combination of a higher pH value with a lower ORP (oxidation reduction potential) shows that the PiMag Waterfall® provides not only basic water, but water that also has the advantages of antioxidants.

Testing of water for contaminants

As more and more publications indicate that the water in our water supply is contaminated with numerous metals, pesticides, herbicides, insecticides and fungicides, we have carried out tests that reduce a large number of these contaminating substances. In the process used in our laboratory, the tap water to be filtered was mixed with a high concentration of the respective contaminating substance. After filtering, the concentration was measured again.

Nikken do not have information about water quality in your residential area. The substances that can be removed or reduced by this product are not necessarily in your water.

Metals in the water

Drinking water is regularly examined by water supply companies with regard to the content of the metals mentioned below. System filtering ensures that the prescribed concentration or values are not exceeded. The PiMag Waterfall® showed the following reductions compared to British tap water:

Conclusions Water filter test

Our test results have shown that increasing the pH of tap water means an increase in mineral content (calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium and manganese). Calcium is significantly involved in the transmission of nerve signals, blood clotting and muscle contraction. According to studies, magnesium protects diabetics from consequential damage in drinking water and lowers the risk of heart disease, especially in women. Sodium is an essential nutrient that regulates blood volume and blood pressure and plays an important role in the function of nerves and muscles. A potassium-rich diet supports muscle growth and pH balance in the body, while the antioxidant magnesium helps protect against damage from free radicals. The results showed an increase in silica of 36 . There are numerous scientific studies on the benefits of silica in drinking water. Although there is still no conclusive proof, there is much to suggest that an increased concentration of silica can be associated with a reduced risk of dementia. The removal of chlorine, an oxidizing substance, contributes not only to a better taste and smell of the filtered water, but also to the reduction of ORP. Even in the treated water in our water supply, the PiMag Waterfall ® can reduce the level of contamination.
